Always admired beaded lace but been apprehensive about trying it? What about all those beads? We'll cover how to get comfortable reading lace charts, learn the differences between knitting lace in the round and knitting it back and forth, discuss the history of lace knitting, learn multiple ways to place beads in our knitting, how to add beads to any design, mattress stitch, and the best way to block and finish our lace as we knit the popular beaded lace Coventry Cowl. You'll leave feeling comfortable and confident, ready to embrace the lace!


Materials Needed ~ Embrace the Beaded Lace

• 400 yards worsted weight light-colored yarn (no fuzzy fibers, please)
• Size US 6 (4mm) 30” circular knitting needle
• Size US 8 (5mm) 30” circular knitting needle
• Stitch markers
• Approx. 600 Miyuki 6/0 beads
• Size .75mm crochet hook
• Post-It notes


Homework ~ Embrace the Beaded Lace

On smaller circular needles using Long Tail or German Twisted CO technique, CO 152 sts, DO NOT join into round – cowl is worked back and forth in rows.
Next Row (WS): [K1, p1tbl] to end of row.
Next Row (RS): [K1tbl, p1] to end of row.
Repeat previous 2 rows for a total of 7 rows, ending on a WS row.
